Svetlana Shkolyar is a Carnegie Fellow coming from Arizona State University. She is working with Andrew Steele and George Cody on Mars sample return biogenicity protocol for the Mars 2020 mission. Svetlana holds a B.S. in Physics, an M.A. in Mass Communication, an M.S. in Space Studies, and a Ph.D. in Geosciences with an emphasis in astrobiology. Her research interests focus on fossil biosignature detection using integrated Mars rover-based instrumentation, especially Raman and fluorescence spectroscopy, and on biogenicity protocols for returned samples from Mars.
